Thyroid is an endocrine gland located in the neck
immediately below and in front of the larynx .It secrets harmone called
thyroxine that has several functions .Thyroxine determines the metabolic rate
of the body tissues .Is necessary in the normal growth and physical development
of the children.
Enlargement
of thyroid gland is caused by increased/decreased hormone secretion.This
enlargement of thyroid gland is called is “goiter”.

2 multinoduler goiter with increased secreations.
3 Graves disease by body produces antibody to its own thyroid gland.

1 iodine deficient diet .Iodine is a major constituent of
thyroid harmone.
2 Inflammation thyroid gland called “HASMOTOS “disease It
causes under secreation of thyroid gland.
SYMPTOMS: Weight gain, hair loss and itchy dry
skin.
Fatigue thinking ability slowdown,
puffy eyes.
TREATMENT:
1 Hypothyroidism ( thyro
toxicos ) – Anti thyroid medicines ,radioactive iodine tablets
Removel of part thyroid gland through
surgery.
2 Hypothyroidism ( myxedema ) _
Thyrotoxin supplements.
